CLUBSCORE's Fantasy Museum of Trans Sporting Excellence and Portal to Other Dimensions

Gallery, Kambri Cultural Centre
Kambri Precinct – 154 University Ave, Acton ACT

Event Description

CLUBSCORE’s Fantasy Museum of Trans Excellence and Portal to Other Dimensions is a place for us all to imagine a reality where openly trans and gender diverse people have always been included and celebrated.

Guests will be able to move through the Museum at their own pace and engage with fantasy history and artifacts. For those who like a bit of participatory art, there will be multiple ways that guests can contribute to co-creating the fantasy history with the artists, including creating your own Trans Sporting Hero, adding your own Trans Sports Dream to the History Book, contributing lyrics to the CLUBSCORE anthem, and more!

This installation is designed to bring trans and gender diverse people and the broader queer community together to mourn, celebrate, and strategise.

Trans and gender diverse (TGD) people have been consistently excluded and discriminated against in every modern sport, game and physical activity. Limited access to safe spaces to train and play, exclusion from sporting communities, outdated binary classifications of “mens and women’s leagues” and harmful rhetoric about trans athletes being spouted from politicians and on social media means that TGD people often can’t join in the activities that are so often talked about as being “for everyone”.

At this pivotal moment, we are making a space to respond to historical and current injustice, and call the future we want into being, using a mix of creative arts practices, games and sports activities.

CLUBSCORE is a queer sports and art collective centering the experiences of trans and gender diverse people in sports and games. This installation is a portal into a queer universe where TGD athletes are celebrated. It’s a Hall of Fame, a museum, and an Opening Ceremony for Queer Futures.

The installation/memorial/Hall of Fame/museum/queer parallel universe portal will be co-created by artists Zev Aviv (they/them) and Ketura Budd (they/them) over 10 days in the Uncharted Territory festival, with an invitation to the community to witness, contribute, and enjoy.

Visit the Fantasy Museum anytime during the opening hours, or join us for one of the workshops being led by local legends, and don’t miss our Opening Ceremony on the final night of the Uncharted Territory festival!
