Music to Your Ears – Science of Hearing though Classical Music

Music to Your Ears - Science of Hearing Though Classical Music

Marie Reay Teaching Centre, ANU – MRTC building entry
155 University Ave, Canberra ACT

Event Description

Music to Your Ears will explore the science of hearing from a classical music perspective, removing barriers to both disciplines through an accessible, interactive format.

Discover the functions of the ear with large scale props and live music from musicians of the Canberra Symphony Orchestra. Music to Your Ears will strengthen awareness and understanding of hearing loss, building on a successful, longstanding collaboration between the Canberra Symphony Orchestra (CSO) and Canberra’s audiology community. The event will be co-presented by audiologist and CSO musician Kristen Sutcliffe with science presenter Rod Taylor, who has lived experience of hearing loss. Participants will gain knowledge of the science of sound and a unique opportunity to explore and appreciate classical music. During the event the community will have the chance to create sounds on the instruments of the orchestra in a hands-on element.

All attendees can expand their understanding of both auditory science and classical music in a fun and informal setting.
